The 30th Panaad sa Negros Festival officially opened yesterday with renewed calls for unity, resilience and continued development among Negrenses, highlighting three decades of celebrating the province’s identity, culture and shared aspirations.

In his keynote message during the opening ceremony, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson underscored that Panaad Festival has become a living expression of the province’s history — bringing together the stories, products and traditions of its 32 local government units (LGUs) into one unified celebration of Negrense pride.

Officials noted that this year’s milestone celebration reflects how the province has moved “stronger, more united and more inspired” as it continues to face modern challenges while embracing opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Key provincial and national leaders attended the event, including Senator JV Ejercito, Vice Governor Joeben Alonso, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, congressmen, and local chief executives across the province.

Their presence underscored strong institutional support for the continued success of the festival.

The provincial government also extended recognition to partner institutions, including the Negrosanon Young Leaders Institute Inc., Barangay Kapitolyo stakeholders and various community groups that helped organize and sustain festival activities.

Speakers emphasized that the Panaad Festival remains a symbol of collective aspiration and service, reaffirming the “panaad” or promise of building a province where heritage is preserved and every Negrense is given the opportunity to thrive.

Organizers also expressed gratitude to participating LGUs, performers and partners, crediting their continued support for keeping the spirit of the celebration alive and meaningful for the public.

As festivities officially began, provincial leaders encouraged Negrenses to take pride in showcasing their culture not only to local audiences but also to visitors and online viewers, stressing that the festival continues to strengthen the identity of Negros Occidental as a vibrant and united community./CJ, WDJ
