Two doctors from the Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) are now under administrative investigation following allegations of misconduct, the City Legal Office (CLO) confirmed.
CLO head Karol Joseph Chiu said the physicians have been issued show-cause orders and are being charged with violations of Republic Act No. 6713, as well as conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service.
The cases stem from two separate incidents involving alleged unprofessional behavior.
In one case, a doctor is facing a complaint filed by fellow CHO personnel for allegedly using foul and abusive language toward colleagues within the office.
In a separate incident, another physician was reported by the mother of a rape victim, who claimed that the doctor made insensitive remarks during a medical consultation with the patient.
Chiu said both doctors have been given the opportunity to respond to the allegations by submitting their answers or appeals.
Formal hearings will follow to determine any administrative liability and corresponding penalties based on the evidence presented.
More sanctions
Meanwhile, the CLO is also handling a separate administrative matter involving four employees of the City Engineer’s Office.
The employees, who are facing sanctions over alleged negligence linked to hardened cement discovered in a government warehouse, have requested an extension to file their responses.
The city government has yet to announce timelines for the resolution of both cases./CJ, WDJ
