The Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) will deploy nearly 1,500 personnel across the region to ensure a safe and orderly observance of Araw ng Kagitingan today.
The large-scale security operation will cover key areas of public convergence, including major roads, transport terminals and venues for commemorative activities.
Authorities said personnel will be assigned to fixed visibility posts, mobile and motorcycle patrols, traffic management, as well as checkpoints and border control points to prevent potential threats and maintain peace and order.
Specialized units such as Civil Disturbance Management Teams and the Reactionary Standby Support Force will be on standby for rapid response to emergencies.
Drone operators will also be deployed to provide aerial surveillance, enhancing real-time monitoring and overall situational awareness during the observance.
PRO-NIR emphasized strengthened coordination with local government units and partner agencies to ensure the smooth implementation of security plans.
The collaborative effort aims to create a secure environment for the public as the nation commemorates the bravery and sacrifices of Filipino heroes.
PRO-NIR also urged the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security measures, and immediately report any suspicious activities.
The regional police expressed confidence that, with community support, this year’s Araw ng Kagitingan observance will remain peaceful, secure and orderly./CJ, WDJ
