Loose firearm, ammo seized

Authorities seized an unlicensed firearm and multiple rounds of ammunition following the implementation of a search warrant in Bacolod City’s Barangay Singcang Airport on Sunday, April 5.

Operatives from the Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), in coordination with Bacolod City Police Office Station 8, conducted the operation from 11:10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the corner of L.T. Vista and Lacson Street.

The search warrant, issued by a Regional Trial Court in Bacolod City, was served in connection with a violation of Republic Act 10591.

Police said the operation complied with Supreme Court guidelines, including the use of body-worn cameras and an alternative recording device.

Confiscated during the operation were a Colt caliber .45 pistol without a serial number, a magazine loaded with five rounds of .45 ammunition, 78 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 49 rounds of .38 ammunition, 11 additional rounds of .45 ammunition, and one round of a .357 revolver.

The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested and informed of his constitutional rights.

He is currently under police custody, while the seized items have been turned over for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges.

Police said all evidence was properly inventoried and marked at the scene.

The operation was carried out without any reported incidents.
