Several sachets of suspected shabu were seized from a 27-year-old man in a late-night drug-bust operation in Bacolod City on Holy Thursday, April 2, while one of his companions was injured following a failed attempt to escape by jumping across rooftops.

Operatives from Bacolod Police Station 4 targeted the suspect, identified only as alias “Noy” in Barangay 27’s Purok Cheriza 2 at around 11:00 p.m.

Authorities seized a wallet from “Noy” containing several sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately six grams, with an estimated street value of P40,600.

Police said the suspect and his companions attempted to flee upon sensing the presence of authorities.

During the commotion, one of the suspect’s companions climbed onto a rooftop in an effort to escape but fell and landed in front of the operatives, sustaining injuries.

In his defense, “Noy” claimed that the wallet containing the illegal substances was merely entrusted to him by his girlfriend, identified as alias “Debbie.”

Authorities emphasized that the operation forms part of intensified anti-drug efforts even during the observance of Holy Week, underscoring that law enforcement activities continue despite the religious holiday.

The suspect is now under police custody and is set to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./CJ, WDJ
