A 27-year-old man was killed while his companion survived after unidentified gunmen opened fire on them at Barangay Caliban in Negros Occidental’s Murcia town on Sunday evening, March 29.

The fatality was identified as Aljon Mino, a resident of Barangay Canlandog.

Murcia police said Mino was driving a motorcycle with his companion, identified only by the alias “Nico,” as they were heading home in Purok Mirasol.

They were suddenly shot at by still unidentified suspects at around 7:00 p.m.

Police said the two attempted to flee the attack, but Mino sustained multiple gunshot wounds that led to his death.

His companion, meanwhile, managed to escape and is now considered out of danger.

Initial information obtained indicated that prior to the shooting, the victims had come from Purok Dison in Barangay Buenavista, where they attended a fiesta celebration./CJ, WDJ
