Espina, San Beda dominate Lyceum in NCAA

The San Beda University Lady Red Spikers bounced back from a previous defeat with a 25-14, 25-19, 25-16 domination over the Lyceum of the Philippines Lady Pirates in the NCAA Season 101 women’s volleyball at the San Andres Sports Complex on Wednesday, February 25.

Negrense Gina Espina was efficient with her ball distribution, tallying 13 excellent sets, to go with two points, as the Lady Red Spikers improved to an 8-2 win-loss slate in Group B.

Janelle Bachar tallied 13 points, anchored on 11 attacks and two blocks to earn Player of the Game honors for the Lady Red Spikers, which overcame the injury of star Angel Habacon in securing the win.

The Lady Red Spikers relied on steady offensive production and solid net defense to neutralize the Lady Pirates (3-7) and close out the match in convincing fashion.

Meanwhile, the Mapúa University Lady Cardinals staged a thrilling reverse sweep against the Arellano Lady Chiefs, recovering from a two-set deficit to win, 20-25, 26-28, 25-22, 25-20, 15-11.

Raissa Ricablanca powered the Lady Cardinals with a massive 37-point explosion built on 33 attacks and three aces, earning Player of the Game honors as they improved to a 4-5 mark in Group A.

The Lady Chiefs slipped to a 3-6 record in Group B.

On the other hand, the San Sebastian College – Recoletos Lady Stags outlasted the Jose Rizal University Lady Bombers in a five-set battle, 27-25, 20-25, 26-24, 17-25, 15-7.

Kleiner Abraham starred for the Lady Stags with an all-around effort of 13 points, 13 receptions and 11 digs, leading San Sebastian to a 4-6 record.
