The Pontevedra municipal government distributed close to P3 million in financial assistance to 708 residents heavily affected by Typhoon “Tino,” reinforcing ongoing recovery efforts months after the storm struck the province.

The aid included P2.5 million sourced from the Negros Occidental provincial government, part of the P50-million Presidential Assistance Fund released by the Office of the President following the devastation caused by Typhoon “Tino” on November 4, 2025.

Additional support came from the Davao City government, which contributed P300,000, alongside counterpart funding from the municipal government.

Despite intermittent rains, the payout activity proceeded without disruption on Tuesday, February 10, allowing beneficiaries to receive much-needed support for their recovery and daily needs.

In a municipal statement, the municipal officials said the initiative reflects “the spirit of solidarity and responsive governance,” noting that sustained inter-government cooperation remains crucial as communities continue to rebuild after the typhoon.

Pontevedra was among eight local government units in Negros Occidental that received a share of the presidential aid.

Moises Padilla, La Castellana and La Carlota City each received P10 million; Hinigaran, Bago City and Binalbagan were allotted P5 million each; while Isabela and Pontevedra received P2.5 million apiece./CJ, WDJ
