The University of the East (UE) Red Warriors will hold football tryouts in Negros Occidental’s Victorias City this weekend as part of their recruitment drive for aspiring collegiate players.

The two-day tryout is set for February 7 to 8 at the Victorias City National High School pitch, with activities scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m.

UE head coach Franklin “Frank” Muecan will personally oversee the sessions.

A native of Negros Occidental and a resident of Victorias City, Muecan returns to his home province to scout potential recruits for the UAAP program.

Muecan holds an AFC “A” coaching license and has previously served in coaching roles with the Azkals Development Team, United City FC, and the University of the Philippines men’s football team.

The tryouts are being organized in partnership with the Negros Occidental Regional Football Association and the Victorias City local government unit.

Organizers said the collaboration aims to provide local athletes with opportunities to pursue football scholarships and compete at the collegiate level.

Participants are advised to arrive by 7:00 a.m. for registration.

Aspiring players are required to bring complete football gear, including boots and shin guards, as well as a valid school ID or recent report card for academic verification.

They are also encouraged to bring personal water bottles for hydration./ASC, WDJ
