Cignal thwarts Choco Mucho in 4 for 2nd win

The Cignal Super Spikers secured their second win in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference by turning back the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in four sets at the FilOil Centre in San Juan City.

Cignal thwarted Choco Mucho, 25-20, 16-25, 25-19, 25-18, dealing the Sisi Rondina-Eya Laure tandem their first loss of the tournament, while getting to sit on top of the standings at 2-0.

“Sobrang happy and proud lalo sa team namin. Grabe ‘yung investment namin before this game,” said coach Shaq delos Santos after the game.

On Tour MVP Erika Santos led the Super Spikers’ scoring efforts, tallying 18 points on 14 attacks, two blocks and two aces, while Vanie Gandler had 16 points and eight excellent receptions.

Gel Cayuna steered the Cignal offense with 23 excellent sets, while Dawn Catindig defended their side of the taraflex well with 17 excellent digs.

While they lost in the attacking department 52-59, they won overwhelmingly in blocks 12-3, and in service aces 5-0.

Jackie Acuna contributed five blocks for the Super Spikers, as Rose Doria-Aquino had four, forcing their will on the net.

Meanwhile, Choco Mucho fell to 1-1, despite a decent start.

Rondina had 20 points to pace the losing side to go with 16 excellent receptions.

Lorraine Pecana had 12, while Laure almost had a triple-double of 11 points, 15 excellent receptions and eight excellent digs.

The Delos Santos-mentored squad aims for a third straight triumph against Farm Fresh on February 10, while Choco Mucho eyes a rebound win against sister team Creamline Cool Smashers on the same game date. (ABS-CBN News)
