The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) reported the neutralization of four alleged remnants of dismantled guerrilla units following a series of encounters across the Negros Island Region, as part of its continuing anti-insurgency campaign.

In a press statement, the 3ID said the operations also led to the seizure of several high- and low-powered firearms.

The military described the encounters as part of sustained efforts to prevent any resurgence of communist terrorist groups (CTGs) and to preserve gains in peace, security and development in the region.

According to the Army, the results of the recent clashes underscore what it called the weakening capacity of CTG remnants to regain influence, citing increased vigilance among local communities and continued cooperation with government forces.

“The strong collaboration between our troops and local communities played a crucial role in the success of these operations,” the 3ID said, adding that such partnerships help ensure peace and order while allowing development initiatives to proceed without disruption.

The military once again urged remaining members of the New People’s Army (NPA) to abandon armed struggle and return to the fold of the law.

The 3ID encouraged them to avail themselves of government reintegration programs, including the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) and the Amnesty Program, which offer livelihood assistance and other forms of support.

“These programs provide an opportunity for reconciliation, healing, and a dignified life within the community,” the statement said.

The 3ID emphasized that it will continue its operations in Negros Island in coordination with local stakeholders, maintaining that sustained security efforts are key to long-term peace and development in the region./CJ, WDJ
