The Bacolod Pickleball Club (BPC) turned in a strong showing at the 1st PicklePoint Pickleball Tournament, collecting two gold, one silver and three bronze medals in the two-day competition held recently in Iloilo City’s Mandurriao District.
The tournament drew players from across the region, with Bacolod fielding a large contingent led by coach Genevie Gregorio.
Among those who represented the city were Lowella Marie Sanicas, Philippe Jethro Sarmon, Victor Dave Aplasca, Sean Rodrigazo, Alexandra Grace Aplasca, Jules Lobaton, Andrei Frias Jr., Areetha Rodriguez, Kimberly Rodriguez, Leizel Rodriguez, Philip Rodriguez, Monina Lizardo, Manny Merelos, Chut Claver, Jeth Panaligan, Crystal Subardiaga, Joben Hervias, AJ Gonzales, Zeny Pabilona, Rhett Jugos, Jay Famoso, Prea Xeña, John Clyde Espares, Levi Duran, Luis Tocmo, and Caryl Ginete.
BPC’s medal haul highlighted the club’s growing presence in the sport, which has been gaining popularity in Bacolod and nearby areas.
The team credited its performance to consistent training, teamwork and discipline developed through regular club activities.
BPC was founded in September 2023 by Nancy “Tingting” Uy.
The club has since steadily expanded its membership, contributing to the rise of pickleball in the city and the wider Western Visayas region./ASC, WDJ
