Eight family members were injured when their van went off the road and plunged into a creek along a national highway at Barangay Igmaya-an in Negros Occidental’s Don Salvador Benedicto town on Tuesday, January 20.

The group of 18 had been celebrating the 60th birthday of the vehicle’s driver, known only as Rod, at Toreno Resort.

Among the passengers were eight minors.

Police investigators said the accident occurred at a blind curve on Talos Road in Purok Talos, after the van’s brakes reportedly malfunctioned.

The vehicle swerved into the opposite lane and plunged into a creek.

All eight injured passengers, including the driver, were taken to Bacolod Adventist Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities confirmed that their conditions are now stable./CJ, WDJ
