A 40-year-old man was fatally shot at Barangay Santa Teresa in Negros Occidental’s Manapla town on Sunday afternoon, January 18.

Police said the victim, a resident of Barangay Purisima’s Zone 5, was reportedly approached by the suspect, identified only by the alias “George,” who was riding a motorcycle in Hacienda Unson.

According to witnesses, the suspect fired at the victim without provocation.

The victim attempted to flee but was chased and shot again, this time in the back of the head, resulting in his death.

Authorities recovered one live .45 caliber ammunition from the scene.

Manapla police immediately launched an investigation and pursued the suspect, who remains at large.

Authorities also spoke to the suspect’s father, who claimed that his son harbored an old grudge against the victim, who was allegedly involved in the killing of the suspect’s uncle.
