The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has seized four loose firearms and arrested a suspected gunrunner in a buy-bust operation at Barangay Tabugon in Negros Occidental’s Kabankalan City.
The operation, conducted by the CIDG Bacolod City Field Unit in coordination with Kabankalan police, targeted violations of Section 32 of Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Authorities identified the suspect as “Errol,” 31 years old, who was caught trading and delivering firearms without proper licenses.
Confiscated items included three .38-caliber revolvers and one homemade shotgun.
The suspect is allegedly involved in gunrunning activities in Negros Occidental.
In a statement, CIDG acting director Police Major General Robert Morico II commended the operatives for their efforts.
“With the confiscation of these firearms and the arrest of the alleged illegal possessor, we have removed four instruments of violence and potentially prevented future crimes,” Morico said.
“The CIDG remains steadfast in enforcing the law and combating criminality,” he added./CJ, WDJ
