Firefighters and emergency medical responders of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Bacolod City assisted a pregnant woman in labor who gave birth inside a tricycle right in front of the Central Fire Station along San Juan Street on Saturday morning, November 22.

Bacolod City Fire Marshal Supt. Jenny Mae Masip said that personnel from Duty Battalion 2 and Emergency Medical Services immediately responded after noticing a tricycle parked outside the station at around 10:10 a.m. with a distressed passenger — identified as 22-year-old Condrada Alisbo, who was already in her second stage of labor.

Responders found Alisbo sitting consciously inside a tricycle that malfunctioned in Barangay Banago en route to the hospital for childbirth.

The driver attempted to push the tricycle, but, pressed for time, he decided to proceed instead to the nearest emergency facility — the Bacolod Central Fire Station.

Due to the urgency of the situation, BFP personnel initiated an on-scene delivery.

A baby girl was safely delivered at 10:12 a.m.

The BFP immediately transported Alisbo and the newborn to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital at 10:20 a.m.

They arrived safely at 10:50 a.m.

Both the mother and infant were reported to be in stable condition./CJ, WDJ
