The intensified weeklong law enforcement operations of the Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) have yielded major results, with over P5.8 million worth of illegal drugs seized, more than a hundred suspects arrested, and hundreds of wanted persons captured across Negros Island.

Covering the period of October 27 to November 2, the campaign saw 117 drug personalities arrested in 101 anti-drug operations, leading to the confiscation of 794 grams of suspected shabu valued at approximately P5.8 million.

The PRO-NIR said the accomplishment reflects the unwavering commitment of the regional police in sustaining the anti-drug drive and maintaining peace and order across Negros Island.

Aside from the anti-drug efforts, PRO-NIR also intensified its campaign against other forms of criminality.

In 31 anti-illegal gambling operations, authorities apprehended 81 individuals engaged in illicit betting and seized around P15,000 in bet money.

In the campaign against loose firearms, 70 operations were conducted, resulting in the recovery and confiscation of 100 firearms — including 33 accounted, nine confiscated, 11 abandoned, and 47 voluntarily surrendered weapons. Police also recovered four explosive devices.

Meanwhile, in pursuit of fugitives, the regional police launched 223 manhunt operations, which led to the arrest of 174 other wanted persons and 19 most wanted individuals at the regional level.

PRO-NIR emphasized that the series of successful operations was made possible through strengthened coordination among units and the active support of local communities.

“These results show that our intensified law enforcement efforts are paying off. We will continue to sustain our operations to ensure the safety and security of the people of Negros Island,” PRO-NIR said./CJ, WDJ
