The Bacolod City government has announced regulated visiting hours and traffic adjustments in preparation for the observance of Undas to ensure public safety and maintain order at cemeteries and nearby roads.

Visiting hours in all public cemeteries will be limited from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., starting Friday, October 31, to Sunday, November 2, according to City Administrator Atty. Mark Steven Mayo.

The city’s three main public cemeteries — North Public Cemetery (Burgos), Granada Public Cemetery, and Handumanan Public Cemetery — are expected to draw thousands of visitors during the three-day observance.

Mayo said the measure was finalized following a coordination meeting among city departments and agencies to prepare for All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.

The regulation seeks to control crowd flow and ensure the safety of visitors. Entry and exit points at public cemeteries will be strictly monitored.

“May mga nagabisita na nga daan subong nga semana, pero ginapaabot nga ang kadam-an sang tawo mag-abot sa Oktubre 31 tubtob Nobyembre 2,” Mayo said, adding that they encourage early visits to prevent congestion.

He also clarified that private cemeteries have the discretion to set their own visiting hours.

Meanwhile, the City Traffic Authority has released a traffic advisory and rerouting plan for areas surrounding the Burgos Public Cemetery, which will take effect from October 31 to November 2:

* Full closure: Bacolod City Police Station 4 to corner Burgos-Lopez Jaena.

* Rerouting: Jeepneys from Downtown to NGC: From Burgos, turn right to Hilado, right to L.N. Agustin, right to Ilang-Ilang, right to YLAC, then left to Burgos. Shopping to Downtown: From Lopez Jaena, turn right to L.N. Agustin, then right to Burgos.

* Affected routes: Homesite, Fortune Towne, Granada, Alangilan, and Shopping.

* One-way sections: Burgos (from corner BBB to Lopez Jaena) and Lopez Jaena (from Burgos to L.N. Agustin)./CJ, WDJ
