The Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) served an arrest warrant against a convicted drug offender for violating Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, during a law enforcement operation in Negros Occidental’s Kabankalan City yesterday.

The Kabankalan City Component Police Station implemented the warrant at the city district jail in Barangay 2 against alias “Gref,” 45 years old, a resident of Coloso Street, Barangay 6.

The arrest was made for service of sentence for violations of Sections 5, 11 and 15, Article 2 of RA 9165.

Authorities said the accused had been previously convicted following a successful buy-bust operation in 2020.

Although he was initially granted probation by the court, he reportedly violated its conditions, prompting its revocation and the issuance of a warrant for his arrest to serve his sentence.

Police records further revealed that the same individual was again apprehended in August 2025 in connection with another drug-related operation.

The serving of the warrant was carried out in accordance with legal procedures.

PRO-NIR reiterated its firm commitment to supporting the national government’s campaign against illegal drugs and other criminal activities through intensified operations, community collaboration and strict enforcement of existing laws.
