The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has issued additional subpoenas to three more district engineers in Negros Occidental as part of its ongoing probe into alleged irregularities in flood control projects across the province.

NBI-Bacolod executive officer William de Arca confirmed that the engineers from the Bacolod Lone District Engineering Office, the First District Engineering Office in Talisay City, and the Second District Engineering Office in Bago City have already received their subpoenas last week.

They are expected to appear before the NBI-Bacolod office next week to submit the requested documents.

Earlier, the NBI had also summoned the district engineers of the 3rd District in Binalbagan town, the 4th District in Kabankalan City, and the 5th District in San Carlos City.

De Arca said these officials have already turned over documents that will be cross-checked with project details available on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) website.

The investigation is centered on verifying the implementation and integrity of flood control projects in the province.

Following the submission of documents, De Arca said the NBI will move forward with on-site inspections of the projects.

“The purpose of the subpoenas is to secure full cooperation and transparency from the concerned offices,” De Arca added./CJ, WDJ
