Two unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen targeted two brothers at Purok Active in Bacolod City’s Barangay Mandalagan yesterday, which resulted in the killing of a 43-year-old man and the injuring of his younger brother.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) said the victims (names withheld upon the request of the family) were riding a motorcycle when two unidentified assailants on another motorcycle, without a license plate, were tailing them.
Authorities noted that the brothers had just come from their eatery in Barangay Villamonte.
They were about to go home when the shooting occurred at 8:40 a.m.
Police said the older victim sustained a fatal gunshot wound that pierced through his back and chest, causing his death at the scene.
His 41-year-old brother suffered a gunshot wound near the shoulder and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, the BCPO recovered an unregistered firearm of unknown caliber along with six live bullets from the 43-year-old victim’s sling bag.
Station 3 commander, Police Major Rondly Tapang, confirmed that the recovered firearm would be subjected to forensic examination as part of the investigation.
Investigators are conducting follow-up operations to establish the motive and to identify the suspects./CJ, WDJ
