Ateneo de Manila University remains unbeaten in UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball action.
The Blue Eagles continued to ride their newfound confidence, soaring over Adamson University, 77-58, for their third straight win in the clash at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
This is the best start of Tab Baldwin’s crew since Season 84, wherein the Katipunan-based team won all but the very last of their assignments in early 2022.
“In the second half, we kinda hit on all cylinders,” said Baldwin, whose squad used a fourth-quarter surge to defeat Adamson.
“We shot extremely high, but really, we had good shots. We were a little bit more patient, and we executed better.
Divine Adili emerged as the Blue Eagles’ top scorer, posting 16 points with six rebounds, while Jaden Lazo provided spark with 15 markers and three steals.
Kymani Ladi was still solid, finishing with 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block, while Ian Espinosa drained three long-bombs to complete his 10 markers, two dimes and a steal,
It was a close encounter between both squads up until the end of the third period, but the Ateneans went on a nine-to-nothing charge until midway through the last frame to build themselves a 60-48 lead.
A pair of three-pointers that came from Jared Bahay and Lazo with over three minutes left eventually increased the Blue Eagles’ lead to its biggest at 19, 68-49, and that was all Ateneo needed to maintain its current place at the top of the UAAP standings. (ABS-CBN News)
