A 25-year-old man was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed at Barangay Minapasok in Negros Occidental’s Calatrava town late evening on Saturday, September 27.

Calatrava police said the stabbing occurred at around 10:20 p.m. while the victim, a resident of the area, was on his way home to Sitio Bombil.

According to police reports, he was suddenly waylaid and attacked by the suspect, identified only as alias James, a married resident of the same sitio.

The suspect allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab the victim in the lower part of his chest before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Despite his injury, the victim managed to seek help from nearby residents, who immediately brought him to Calatrava Municipal Hospital.

He is currently under close observation.

Meanwhile, municipal police, in coordination with barangay officials, have since launched a hot pursuit operation for the suspect’s possible arrest and the filing of appropriate charges.
