Six Negrense players are among the record 128 aspirants who submitted their application for the PBA Season 50 Rookie Draft slated for September 7 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City.
Among the six, five traced their roots from Bacolod City, while another one hails from Negros Occidental’s San Carlos City.
Rookie aspirants coming from Bacolod are Aldave Canoy, Jaycee Adjei, Miles Cañal, Jason Celis, and Alfred Sedillo.
Canoy was a former member of the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers and Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias, while Celis and Sedillo previously played for Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers and San Beda University Red Lions, respectively.
Adjei was a former standout of STI-West Negros University Mustangs, while Cañal had a previous stint with University of St. La Salle in Bacolod.
On the other hand, San Carlos’ Kenneth Malazarte has previously played for the Colegio de San Agustin, also in Bacolod.
Canoy, Adjei, Cañal, and Malazarte are currently teammates for the Bacolod Tubo Slashers in the MPBL, while Sedillo is playing for the Manila Batang Quiapo squad./ASC, WDJ
