Living Stones International School-Bacolod dominated the boys’ division to headline the recently concluded Gametime 17-under volleyball tournament, which drew 29 top youth teams from across Western Visayas.
Living Stones clinched the championship after defeating Buenavista National High School-Guimaras in the title match, with standout Chad Patrimonio earning both finals MVP and Best Spiker honors.
Teammates Marl Serad and Edward Penetrante also shone, bagging the Best Setter and Best Opposite Spiker awards, respectively.
Buenavista’s Mark Hervias was named Best Middle Blocker, while Iloilo Central Academy’s Yuan Zyron Albay took home Best Libero honors as ICA settled for third place.
NVC-Aklan rounded out the Top 4.
In the girls’ division, Santa Clarita International School (SCIS) Primes secured the title after overcoming NVC-Aklan in the finals.
Iloilo City National High School and Buenavista-Guimaras placed third and fourth, respectively.
SCIS star Ryza Sespeñe was hailed finals MVP, with teammates Roze Simora and Jiuliane Castañeda earning Best Open Hitter and Best Setter citations.
NVC-Aklan’s Quinnee Villorente and Ashley Villorente claimed Best Opposite Spiker and Best Middle Blocker awards.
The three-day tournament featured matches at Imperial 3 Subdivision Uswag Gym in Mandurriao for the girls and at Buntatala Gym for the boys.
Gametime Sports founder Rodolfo Go Villaruz expressed satisfaction with the competition’s success, saying it showcased emerging volleyball talent from Iloilo, Guimaras, Aklan, Capiz, and Bacolod.
“We are happy with the turnout of this tournament, and we are looking to make this a regular event here in Iloilo and, hopefully, garner more participants in the future,” Villaruz said./ASC, WDJ
