A driver of the Bacolod Cosmopolitan Christian Church was killed after he was gunned down in front of the church along Circumferential Road in Barangay Taculing yesterday morning.

Police identified the victim as 59-year-old Efren Banagloryoso, a resident of the city’s Barangay Granada.

He had just stepped out of the church compound following the morning worship service when the shooting happened around 11:00 a.m.

Police Station 6 commander, Captain Rosalindo Pugoy, Jr. said an initial investigation revealed that the assailants were on board a black sports utility vehicle.

Pugoy said the vehicle, which came from the northern direction, made a U-turn before stopping in front of Banagloryoso.

A man wearing a multicolored long-sleeved shirt and a face covering alighted from the passenger side and fired at the victim.

The gunman then quickly fled aboard the SUV.

Banagloryoso sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head, chest and back, police said.

At least six empty shells were recovered at the crime scene.

Police believe at least two suspects were involved and are now reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses to track down those responsible.

An investigation is ongoing./CJ, WDJ
