A 12-year-old Negrense footballer has been making waves on the international scene while representing the country in the recently held Trophy Cup in London, England.
Renzel Grace Gella, a native of Negros Occidental’s Pontevedra town, capped her 17th international tournament with another title after her squad topped the competition over the weekend.
Her successful run in Europe also included a silver medal finish in the Iber Cup in Portugal, a bronze medal in the Helsinki Cup in Finland, and back-to-back championships in the Gothia Cup in Sweden last July.
“I’m really grateful to be back in London and compete,” Gella said in an interview with Watchmen Daily Journal.
“We were happy to play against strong teams, and I’m hopeful for more tough tournaments like this to come so we can continue to test ourselves and get better,” she added.
