Gilas Pilipinas could be welcoming new players as it turns its focus to the 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers later this year.

Following the Nationals’ seventh-place finish in the recently concluded 2025 Asia Cup in Saudi Arabia, they are expected to make some tweaks to their roster before they return to camp in time for the November window of the qualifiers.

“That’s why we have this program every window,” Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Executive Director Erika Dy said on Tuesday, August 19, on the sidelines of Pilipinas United 3×3 League’s pre-tournament presser.

“After every window, may evaluation process ‘yan, to make adjustments as needed going towards the ultimate goal,” continued the former Ateneo de Manila University women’s coach.

Gilas head coach Tim Cone previously cited two moves since their return from Jeddah: getting Quentin Millora-Brown as a local player, and anticipating the return of 7-foot-3 star Kai Sotto.

“Those are two changes right there, and there could be one or two more,” the Barangay Ginebra coach said.

Dy then acknowledged what Cone pointed out regarding the other possible changes that they have discussed, but without going into specifics just yet.

“Meron na ring moves. It’s been discussed naman,” Dy shared.

“There were already a few changes that have been discussed, so wait and see lang tayo if they are going to be applied this upcoming window.”

However, much like how Cone and the SBP have been stressing ever since, these moves are around the margin as their main philosophy stays the same — focus and emphasis on continuity.
