The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will conduct a re-survey of the public utility jeepneys (PUJs) plying in Bacolod City next month for recommendations on how many PUJs will be needed per route.
“It will also include a transfer plan kun may existing na diri [nga route]. Kun sobra na, pwede pa sila ka transfer sa iban nga route,” Mayor Greg Gasataya said during his press conference yesterday.
Gasataya said the re-survey, to be conducted from September 8 to 20 by the LTFRB Central Office with the assistance of the local government unit to provide them with the logistics, will determine the possibility of drafting a new route.
Currently, there are 24 routes under Bacolod’s Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP).
As of March, LTFRB records showed that there were 615 modernized units and 1,266 approved consolidated traditional units operating in the city.
It learned that some traditional PUJs operate with no franchise after failing to consolidate.
In 2018, before the implementation of LPTRP, the LTFRB registered 3,747 unconsolidated traditional jeepneys in Bacolod./MS, WDJ
