Bacolod cops net P4.76-M ‘shabu’ in series of sting ops

Drug enforcement teams of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized P4.76 million in suspected shabu in a series of buy-busts between Sunday night, August 10, and early morning yesterday.

“I commend the operatives for their dedication and commitment to the fight against illegal drugs in Bacolod City,” BCPO Director Colonel Joeresty Coronica said in a statement.

Each gram of shabu has a standard drug price of P6,800 per gram.

Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) recovered 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000 minutes past midnight at Bangga Vista Alegre, Barangay Mansilingan yesterday.

Suspects alias “Reagan,” 38, a jeepney driver, and alias “Rolando,” 40, a fish vendor, were arrested after selling a sachet of shabu at P1,000 to a police poseur-buyer.

In Barangay Handumanan, the operation of CDEU operatives on Sunday night yielded shabu valued at P3.536 million.

Two suspects were arrested, alias “Levi,” 29, of Lucky Homes, Barangay Handumanan and alias “Raegil,” 30, of Fortune Town, Barangay Estefania.

During a meet-up at Zone 5 past 8:30 p.m., they sold a sachet of shabu for P1,000 to an undercover policeman.

Operatives found in their possession five knot-tied and seven heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing 520 grams of shabu.

The arrested suspects will be charged with violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
