A fire believed to have been caused by an improvised mosquito repellent broke out at a residence at Purok Sigay in Bacolod City’s Barangay 2 around 10:00 a.m. yesterday.
Fire Officer 2 Rolin Paulan of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod said the fire partially damaged the second floor of the house owned by Cyril Cordova, who sustained a minor burn to his left shoulder while trying to save his belongings.
Due to the quick response from Cordova’s neighbors, the fire was already under control even before firefighters arrived.
Cordova said this is the second time that his house has caught fire.
Paulan said the blaze originated from burning egg trays as a makeshift mosquito repellent.
The estimated damage from the blaze is around P1,000, BFP-Bacolod said./CJ, WDJ
