A Filipina caregiver working in Israel passed away yesterday morning due to injuries she sustained during an Iranian missile attack on June 15.
The Philippine Embassy in Israel, in a statement posted on their official Facebook page, announced the death of Leah Mosquera, a 49-year-old caregiver from Negros Occidental.
“It is with deep sorrow that the Philippine Embassy in Israel announces that Mosquera passed away this morning due to severe injuries she sustained when an Iranian missile struck her Rehovot apartment on June 15,” said the embassy.
After the attack, Mosquera was rushed to Shamir Medical Center, where she underwent multiple surgeries.
She fought for her life in the intensive care unit for several weeks.
“During this time, she was lovingly cared for by her sister Joy, who also works here in Israel. Joy shared the sad news of her sister’s passing and consented to the release of the information to the public,” said the embassy.
“The embassy expresses its deepest gratitude to her and extends heartfelt condolences to the entire Mosquera family in the Philippines.”
Mosquera was supposed to turn 50 this July 29.
The embassy is now working on repatriation arrangements for Mosquera, and has promised “the provision of all necessary assistance.” (ABS-CBN News)
