25th Negros Tenpin Bowling Open crowns champions across divisions

The 25th edition of the Negros Tenpin Bowling Open Tournament concluded on June 29 after six days of competition at the Lopue’s East Bowling Center, featuring top bowlers from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Veteran bowler Biboy Rivera of TBAM topped the seniors category with a 212 average and total score of 1,487, maintaining his dominance in the division.

He was followed by PBA’s Nelia Santos, who edged out STAI’s Alfred Valencia by a single pin to secure the first runner-up spot.

Valencia finished second runner-up.

Completing the Top 6 in the seniors division were Boy Garingalao (STAI), Mar Serac (SLETBA) and Richard Turner (Sugbu).

In the mixed classified masters division, STAI’s Lance Tan claimed the title with a 1,448 pinfall and a 207 average across seven games.

Teammate Brendan Vista followed with 1,411 to secure first runner-up honors, while Ashton Lorenzo of SLETBA came in at 1,408 to place second runner-up.

Rounding out the Top 6 were Rephael Besana (STAI-Notre Dame), Kyle Uy (STAI-MGN Civil) and Richard Turner (Sugbu).

Lara Wong of Team Pilipinas-AMBA emerged victorious in the mixed open masters step-ladder finals, defeating STAI-Sugbu’s Mark Hodgkinson in a close 202-197 match.

GJ Buyco of Sugbu placed second runner-up after a strong 212-game, while Andrey Barbosa (STAI-MGN Civil) and Aldric Bathan (Pilipinas) also made it to the Final 5.

In the Youth Division held on June 28, STAI-MGN Civil’s Icy Togores-Dulos secured the championship by beating teammate Lyle Rosales, 197-174, in the finals.

Rosales advanced through the step-ladder rounds to finish as first runner-up.

STAI’s Micco Necesario came in second runner-up, followed by Charlize Calamba and Chivas Guevarra of SLETBA.

Meanwhile, STAI-MGN Civil’s Lyle Rosales also won the rookie division title with a key 278-pinfall performance in the fifth game that propelled him to the top.

Third Villarosa (STAI) placed first runner-up, and Cheryl de Guzman, also of STAI, finished third.

Jennifer Tan (STAI-Iloilo d’ Bowleros) and Brendan Vista (STAI) completed the Top 5.

The tournament gathered competitors from multiple regions, showcasing emerging talents and veteran consistency.
