A 52-year-old man died after he was trapped inside his burning house at Barangay Caduha-an in Negros Occidental’s Cadiz City early Tuesday morning, June 17.

The victim was identified as Allan Alibutdon, a resident of Hacienda Navidad.

He died from suffocation, secondary to smoke inhalation and full-body burns, during the blaze, Fire Officer 3 Rolly Quiatchon, fire investigator of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Cadiz, said.

The victim’s body was retrieved and brought to the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic for postmortem examination.

The BFP alleged that the fire originated in the kitchen.

An ongoing investigation is still being conducted by the BFP to determine the cause of the blaze.

According to his co-worker, he had accompanied Alibutdon after a drinking session at around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The damage to the property was pegged at P10,000, based on BFP-Cadiz’s initial assessment./MS, WDJ
