Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is proposing that the first regional sports meet of the Negros Island Region (NIR) in 2026 will be held in Negros Oriental.

Along with the athletes of Negros Occidental who played in the Palarong Pambansa this year, Lacson said he is asking the governor of Negros Oriental to host the sporting event in the region next year so that the athletes of Occidental can travel there.

Lacson added that he wants provincial athletes to enjoy and travel to other places besides their good performance.

Next year, the provinces of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Siquijor will compete for the NIR regional meet.

Lacson believes that the athletes in Negros Occidental have a good chance of winning the first regional meet in the NIR./ASC, WDJ
