Negrense booter Alonzo Javellana has been invited to play in a football competition in Europe.
According to a post by Brazilian Jericho Soccer Academy, it said that Javellana, who is part of Bacolod City’s Dolphins FC, is set to play in the Mad Cup Tournament this month.
“Congratulations Alonzo Javellana and to the parents. We are all behind to support you on this prestige international tourney,” the social media post read.
The Mad Cup is a symbolic event at the end of the season for many thousands of children and their parents from different continents of the planet.
The Mad Cup, organized in 2021 with the support of Atletico Madrid as an educational and sporting project, has set itself the goal of becoming one of the most colorful and sought-after international tournaments in the world.
Already in the first three years, the Mad Cup has hosted several hundred teams from more than 30 countries, among them too many well-known clubs.
The competition will be divided into a group stage, play-offs and finals.
The groups consist of four to five participants playing against each other once in a round-robin system.
The first and second places in each group will qualify for the gold round.
The third and fourth places will advance to the silver round, while the last team will continue to the bronze final.
The champions and runners-up from all three rounds will be presented with cups and medals.
In addition, the top players of the Mad Cup Gold stage will receive Best Player awards./ASC, WDJ
