The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) welcomed the appointment of Police Major General Nicolas Torre, who is an Ilonggo, as the new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Torre will replace General Rommel Francisco Marbil who will retire on June 7 after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. extended the latter’s term for three months following the 2025 national and local elections.

“I fully support General Torre not only as our chief but as a friend and my direct under class. Nagkasama kami sa Mindanao and he is a good officer and an Ilonggo. Kahit sino nakaupo we have to support,” said PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky.

Torre’s father who was a member of the Philippine Constabulary (PC) was a native of Tigbauan, Iloilo while his mother’s Deloso family was from the municipality of Dumangas.

However, Torre’s family migrated to Koronadal, South Cotabato when his father was assigned there.

Torre was a member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Tagapagpatupad Class of 1993./Panay News
