Negrense arnis athlete Renalyn Cornel contributed two silver medals for Western Visayas in the ongoing Palarong Pambansa at Laoag, Ilocos Norte yesterday.

The Negros Occidental’s La Carlota City-native bagged her first silver in the secondary girls individual likha anyo espada y daga before teaming up with Janeth Gasapo and Johnmae Micoyco for the team (synchronized) likha anyo double weapon silver.

In taekwondo, Negrense Samantha Gail Arcigal captured a bronze medal finish in the elementary girls poomsae individual category.

Meanwhile, the Western Visayas secondary girls volleyball team, represented by Bacolod Tay Tung High School, finished the group stage with a perfect 3-0 record.

The two-time defending champions scored a 25-11, 25-15 sweep over Bicol Region late on Tuesday, May 27, before defeating Soccsksargen, 25-16, 25-16, yesterday.

The Ian Macariola-mentored secondary girls volleyball team is scheduled to play in the quarterfinals round today./ASC, WDJ
