Negrense boxer Donnie Nietes is set to face Japanese fighter Jun Ikegawa in a non-title fight at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan on May 20.

This is the second time the Negros Occidental’s Murcia-native Nietes is competing this year following his unanimous decision win over Miller Alapormina on April 10.

The last time Nietes fought in Japan was when he lost to Kazuto Ioka in an attempt to win the WBO world super flyweight title in 2022.

The 42-year-old Nietes holds the record for being the longest-reigning Filipino boxing world champion.

He is also a former four-division world champion.

Nietes will enter the ring with a 44-2-6 win-loss draw ring record, including 23 stoppage wins, while the 27-year-old Ikegawa has a 7-1-2 mark, including two stoppage wins./ASC, WDJ
