Negrense Bernalyn Bejoy and Ilonggo Alfrence Braza took home a silver medal each in the 85th Singapore Open Track and Field Championships held recently at the Singapore Sports Hub.

The Bacolod City-native Bejoy settled for a silver medal in the women’s 800-meter run with 2:10.91, clocking behind Thailand’s Benny Nontanam (2:10.49).

“This moment means a lot because it reminds me of how far I’ve come and how far I still want to go,” Bejoy wrote in a social media post.

“Still I’m proud of this result, but I know there’s more in me,” she said.

“With God’s grace, love and the support of those around me, I’ll keep pushing past my limits. I believe this is only a glimpse of what’s possible,” the former De La Salle University standout added.

The Iloilo City-native Braza took home a silver medal in the men’s 1,500-meter event with his 3:56.25 clocking, behind gold medal winner Yad Hapizudin of Indonesia, who had 3:53.99.

“I am beyond grateful for my family and those who never stop praying and believing in me,” Braza said in a social media post.

“Big thanks as well to PATAFA for the continued support,” he added.

Meanwhile, Ronnie Malipay delivered the lone gold medal for Team Philippines in the men’s triple jump with a 15.49-meter performance.

Also with silver medals for Team Philippines are Sonny Wagdos in the men’s 5,000-meter event, and Hokett delos Santos in the men’s pole vault with a 5.05-meter performance./ASC, WDJ
