Negrense Coraline Montalbo took home two gold medals in the Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) National Inter-School Games held recently in Manila.
The Bacolod Tay Tung High School standout emerged on top in the girls’ 14- to 16-year-old 200-meter butterfly event with a record-setting time of two minutes and 45 seconds.
Finishing with silver and bronze medals, respectively, were Zion Valencia of the Ateneo de Cebu senior high school swimming team, and Rana Moaje of Saint Peter the Apostle.
Montalbo also captured a gold medal in the girls’ 14- to 16-year-old 100-meter butterfly event earlier in the competition.
The two-gold medal performance of Montalbo came after her inclusion in the national training pool under the supervision of the Philippine Finswimming Federation Inc.
Montalbo, a many-time gold medal winner while representing Tay Tung in various competitions, is now regularly training in Metro Manila as part of the pool./ASC, WDJ
