Daegu snaps 2-game losing skid in KBL

The Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus outdueled the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters, 88-76, in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) at the Daegu Gymnasium on Wednesday night, March 12.

Negrense Samjosef Belangel, the former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles standout, finished with 18 points, including three three-point conversions, to go with three assists and two rebounds for the Pegasus.

Andrew Nicholson led the way with 31 points and six rebounds.

Youssopha Ndoye added 13 points and seven rebounds as the Pegasus snapped a two-game losing skid to improve to a 23-21 record.

“The players kept their promise on defense from the first quarter,” Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk said after the game.

“Thanks to that, we got off to a good start,” he said.

“We were able to play the game more leisurely. I think we need to check that,” he added.

Deonte Burton finished with 31 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.

Park Ji-hoon added 12 markers, while Javi Gomez de Liaño was held scoreless as the Red Boosters dropped to a 17-27 mark.

Meanwhile, Justin Gutang and the Seoul Samsung Thunders (13-30) suffered a close 63-61 defeat to the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus (27-16) at the Ulsan Dongcheon Gymnasium.

Gutang finished with eight points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal for the Thunders.

Filipino cager Miguel Oczon was not activated by the Phoebus for the match./ASC, WDJ
