Belangel, Daegu bow to Changwon in KBL

Negrense Samjosef Belangel and the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus faltered to the Changwon LG Sakers, 79-72, in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) at the Daegu Gymnasium on Saturday, March 8.

The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles standout finished with 18 points, seven assists, two rebounds, and a steal as the Pegasus dropped to a 22-20 win-loss slate.

“The flow was good at the start of the first quarter. The offense and defense went as we wanted. Belangel was also in good condition, but we failed to sustain it,” Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk said.

Meanwhile, Carl Tamayo finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and one steal as the LG Sakers snapped a two-game losing skid to improve to a 26-16 win-loss slate.

Assem Marei contributed a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds with five assists to lead the Sakers.

Yu Ki-Sang contributed 16 markers in the bounce-back win.

Meanwhile, Justin Gutang recorded 10 points, five rebounds and two assists as the Seoul Samsung Thunders (13-29) pulled off an 83-75 upset over the Wonju DB Promy (19-24).

On the other hand, Kevin Quiambao struggled with seven points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal as the Goyang Sono Skygunners (14-28) bowed to league-leading Seoul SK Knights (35-8), 71-56.

Javi Gomez de Liaño tallied 17 points, three rebounds and a steal.

However, the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters (16-26) suffered an 81-74 defeat to the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus (26-16)./ASC, WDJ
