Negrense Samjosef Belangel and the Daegu Korea Gas Corporation Pegasus scored a 94-85 victory over the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in the Korean Basketball League at the Ulsan Dongcheon Gymnasium on Saturday, February 8.

The Daegu guard finished with 10 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and three steals, as the Pegasus notched their second consecutive victory to improve to a 20-16 win-loss slate.

Pegasus head coach Kang Hyuk lauded Belangel for stepping up on his assist game following his offensive struggles in the match.

“When he’s in good condition, I tell him to attack,” Kang said.

“When he’s not, I tell him to focus on the passing game,” he said.

“He’s smart. He played well today. I think his understanding is continuously improving,” Kang said of Belangel.

Andrew Nicholson led the way with 22 points and eight rebounds.

Jeong Hyo-woo added 19 markers, while Jeong Seong-woo and Kim Jun-il contributed 16 and 14 markers, respectively, for Daegu.

Sean Long had a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds.

Filipino guard Miguel Oczon struggled with just two points, two rebounds and one assist as the Phoebus dropped to a 22-14 record./ASC, WDJ
