The Bacolod City Under-12 and Under-16 football squads have emerged as champions in the Bacolod City Provincial Meet held recently at San Julio Field in Negros Occidental’s San Carlos City.
The Bacolod U-12 squad, represented by University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, ruled the provincial meet following a 2-0 victory over Escalante City in the finals.
“The La Salle back four has jelled very well, earning the team a clean sheet throughout the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association, and division and provincial meet campaign,” Randy Sun, father of goalkeeper Ythan Sun, said.
Meanwhile, the Under-16 boys, represented by Bacolod City National High School, concluded the finals skirmish with a 1-0 scoreline against Tañon College of San Carlos.
“Despite a poorly-developed training school soccer field, the team can still make a remarkable difference in this competition, on towards Antique regional meet,” assistant coach Jerrick Torres said.
The Bacolod City U-12 and U-16 squads will now advance to the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet scheduled next month in Antique.
For Futsal Girls Under-16, Trinity Christian School settled for a bronze medal after a 10-3 victory over Escalante City.
