The Far Eastern University-Diliman (FEU-D) Baby Tamaraws secured a dominant 6-0 victory over the Claret School of Quezon City Red Roosters in the UAAP Season 87 boys football tournament at the University of the Philippines Football Stadium in Quezon City on Saturday, January 18.

Czam Acuesta initiated the scoring for the Baby Tamaraws in the third minute, followed by goals from Negrense James Torres, Ilonggo Arvin Alayon, Jr. and Jerriemy Biton, establishing a comfortable 4-0 lead by halftime.

Defender Jomari Masangkay added to the tally in the second half with a goal in the 70th minute, and Edgar Renopal contributed another 10 minutes later.

“It is indeed a struggle because every year many players graduate, leading to a lot of new faces that need to adapt,” Baby Tamaraws head coach Jake Murillo remarked following the match.

“I believe that for Season 87, we prepared thoroughly in terms of our attacking, defending and even our pace on the field,” he continued.

“We are very pleased with how we executed our movements. The winning mentality is present, and we are happy with their performance,” he added.

Meanwhile, James Sunog and River Solis propelled the University of Santo Tomas Junior Golden Booters to a 5-2 victory over the PAREF Southridge Admirals, marking the start of their redemption campaign after finishing as runners-up last season.

Additionally, the De La Salle-Zobel Junior Archers scored a 1-0 victory against their rivals, the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, courtesy of a header from Brycen Padauan just four minutes into the second half./ASC, WDJ
