A man died after he was allegedly stabbed by his nephew at Barangay Camangcamang in Negros Occidental’s Isabela town on All Saints’ Day, November 1.
The victim was identified as 56-year-old Lambrito Sarimong.
Isabela police chief, Major Joseph Partidas, said Sarimong and his 39-year-old nephew had a heated argument over a land dispute.
Partidas said the victim got irked after learning that a portion of his rented lot was fenced by their relative.
Armed with a cane cutter, Sarimong went to his nephew and challenged him.
The latter was having a drinking session with relatives, Partidas said.
A heated argument happened, where the suspect allegedly stabbed Sarimong in the body using a kitchen knife.
He was rushed to a hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
The nephew was apprehended hours later after he hid in a relative’s house in Barangay Mansablay in the town.
He is currently in police custody, and now faces murder or homicide charges, police said./WDJ
