Two residents of Bacolod City were arrested on Friday morning, November 1, during a buy-bust that yielded P3.4 million in shabu in Purok Kabuhi, Barangay 10, a report of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) showed.
The suspects were identified as alias “John,” 29, an electric tricycle driver, and “Ellan,” 36, a construction worker.
Minutes before 6:00 a.m., “John” sold a sachet of shabu worth P1,000 to an undercover policeman.
“This resulted in the swift apprehension of both suspects by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU),” the BCPO report said.
Operatives also recovered 16 plastic sachets and five knot-tied plastic bags of shabu weighing about 500 grams, priced at P6,800 per gram.
Alias “John” will be charged with violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) while alias “Ellan” with violation of Section 26 (attempt or conspiracy), of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The All Saints’ Day drug haul followed the series of major buy-bust operations conducted by the BCPO since the middle of October to prevent further proliferation of shabu in the just-concluded 45th MassKara Festival.
On October 26, operatives arrested a suspect who yielded P5.44 million worth of shabu in Purok Narra Baybay, Barangay 8.
Agents of CDEU also apprehended three siblings, who yielded P1.36 million worth of shabu, in Purok Kabugwason, Barangay Mansilingan on October 23; and seized a kilogram of shabu worth P6.8 million from a lone suspect in Purok Masinadyahon, Barangay 12 on October 17.
The BCPO drug enforcement teams also recovered shabu valued at a total of P6.8 million during buy-busts in Barangay Tangub and Barangay Singcang-Airport, respectively, on October 13 and 14. (PNA)
