Negrense Kent Jane Pastrana of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigresses is currently running second in the UAAP Season 87 women’s basketball tournament MVP race.
The Negros Occidental’s Silay City native Pastrana has a total of 84.714 statistical points (SPs) after leading the Growling Tigresses to a 6-1 win-loss record after the first round of eliminations.
Pastrana, the UAAP Season 86 Athlete of the Year, is currently the leading performer for defending champions Growling Tigresses, tallying 121 points, 64 rebounds, 19 assists, and 16 steals across her seven games.
Ahead of Pastrana is Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles’ Kacey dela Rosa, who is poised for her second consecutive MVP trophy after garnering 90.143 SPs in the first round of the tournament.
Dela Rosa had a total of 150 points, 103 rebounds, nine assists, seven steals, and 15 blocks over seven games as they headed to the second round of eliminations with a 4-3 mark.
Blue Eagles’ Junize Calago rounds out the Top 3 with 72.571 SPs, thanks to her averages of 12.57 points, 7.86 rebounds, 4.86 assists, and 2.43 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons’ Louna Ozar has earned 71.571 SPs, while Blue Eagles’ Sarah Makanjuola sits in fifth place with 67.429 SPs.
Rounding out the Top 10 are Angel Surada of National University (NU) with 65.714 SPs, Camille Clarin of NU (64.429), UST’s Eka Soriano (64.0), University of the Philippines’ Achrissa Maw (63.857), and University of the East’s Rachel Lacayanga (60.667)./ASC, WDJ
