The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters got back on track in the 2024 PBA Governors’ Cup on Tuesday, September 10, after pulling away for a 122-107 win over the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

After suffering their first loss of the conference against the San Miguel Beermen, the Elasto Painters endured a back-and-forth game against the Fuel Masters before finding their rhythm in the final quarter.

Back-to-back three-pointers by Gian Mamuyac highlighted an 11-0 blast that put Rain or Shine in control, 107-97, midway through the fourth period.

“We kept the pace. It’s our natural pace, actually,” Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said after the game.

“Tingin namin, nakakasabay sa amin ‘yung Phoenix ng three quarters. Pero noong fourth quarter na, naano na namin ‘yung speed and pace ng game, nako-control na namin. I think that’s a big part of it,” he added.

A Jason Perkins layup broke the silence for Phoenix, but buckets from Adrian Nocum and Andrei Caracut padded the Elasto Painters’ lead.

Rain or Shine improved to 5-1, keeping them on top of Group B.

Meanwhile, Phoenix fell to 0-6.

Eight players scored in double-digits for Rain or Shine, led by Nocum with 16 points, while import Aaron Fuller had 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Mamuyac, the Player of the Game, had 14 points in 22 minutes.

Phoenix import Brandone Francis had 31 points on 27 shots, while Jason Perkins added 22 points and 10 boards. (ABS-CBN News)
